In this lesson we added ambient sound effects to the police scene to make it more believable for example we added a police siren to set the scene. We modified the sound levels so that they were not over powering. We felt the police scene went on for too long but we liked the bit when Abi walks over the Jason so we faded to black as she gets to Jason. This looks better nothing much happened when she got to Jason so it keeps the audience from not being bored.

Today we started to edit our thriller which is going very well. We have made 2 copies of the thriller-one is for experimenting and the other is the real thing. This means also means we can practice diffierent shots without getting confused with which shot goes where. We have had a few comments from pepole regarding our thriler. We have made the first 5 shots slowmotion close ups to ease the viewers in and some people like this but others get bored. For this thriller to work we need a mixture of slomotion shots and normal pased full body shots!

The day before the shoot day me and my group spent nearly 3 hours turning our media classroom into a police office. We went round collecting our props like chairs, computers, phones etc and getting them ready. We took down all the films posters and books and put them in a box. We piled the media chairs up in the room next door and we moved our props in. The I.T department provided us with the computers and phones but the rest we bought in or found round the school. My task was to print of pictures for the wall which I found challenging because I was not entirely sure what posters were needed. I printed our fire warning posters and health and safety posters but I was not sure if we should have any fun posters in the room. In the end I went just went for classic safety posters and a notice board.
This is what the room looked like before.
This is what the room looked liked after we had dressed it up.
When I woke up I was very excited to start shooting because we had been planning this for ages so it was nice to put our planning into action. We had set up the room the night before therefore I was fairly calm. When we looked at the set again we thought maybe we should add a few things so we found a huge map to put up on the wall which was a nice touch. Elina was in charge of make-up so she took our actress off to do that. When we got to the studio the floor was very dirty due other thriller groups using it. Me and Camilla went off and found a broom and swept the floor so that it looked clean. Because of the cleaning and small touches the office set were a little behind on schedule.
I feel the office looked very good and that map was a nice touch because it made it feel more like a police office because we circled some areas on the map which could be locations of crime.

This how our actress looked. We put glitter on her face which looked amazing camera and gave her a innocent look.

We took in turns to film but at the begging me, elina and bex directed while camilla filmed then I filmed etc. We were all ways making sure our actress was ok and asking her if she wanted something because we wanted her to feel comfortable.

The camera was wired up to the TV so that we could playback what we filmed on a large screen which was good because it gave us a feel of what it will look like. The playback all so meant we could look for mistakes therefore re shoot. The TV was not facing our actress because otherwise she might have got self concise.
I went up in the crain to film the birds eye view shots. I felt I did a good job on this because it was very hard to film when your high up and in a small cage therefore I had very little movement space. I enjoyed this part of filming the most because I the teachers were not up there with me therefore could not help me much if I got stuck with the camera therefore I felt very independent up there and I got to know the camera better because I was forced to work the camera out by my self.

The only problem we had was variety of shot. We got loads of shots of the ballerina twisting but our teacher reminded us the audience needs variety otherwise they would get board. Our actress did do some other things for us so we did get some very good shot but unfortunately this was close to lunch therefore we had to stop so if I could redo the shoot again I would make sure we had time to do other shots(managing time better). I think the best part of the shoot was getting the slow motion shots because it looked very graceful and elegant which is what we wanted. I felt our production team all worked well together. We all listened to each other and took advice and I cant wait get the editing part and piece the film together.
I have learnt the best work needs teamwork because if you don't work together then you wont produce good material. I have also learnt to keep your actors happy because if they are happy then they will delivery very well!
